Day 1: Windmills

Today we spent some time admiring the power of windmills.  From a distance they look so peaceful and it seems like they are moving very slow.  But after doing some simple calculations involving rotations per minute and circumference, we determined the speed of the tips to be 131.88 mph.  As we got closer and actually stood beneath the enormous windmills, that is when we could begin to tell how complex they really are.  The engineering behind them is amazing.  The debate about windmills "spoiling" the mountain view can be quite heated. But as for me, I think knowing how much nature is being preserved and helped by the "clean" energy more than makes up for the change in scenery.  And I enjoy admiring the view of the windmills anyway.
